Over the past weeks, Al-Mizan has embarked on inspiring learning journeys that brought together faith, community, and practical action for sustainable living. These gatherings were filled with hands-on care for the earth, heartfelt dialogue, and creative practices that show how sustainability can thrive in our daily lives.

? Balik Kampung with GUI x Al-Mizan
At Ground-Up Initiative (GUI) 聚友爱, our community came together for a weekend of stewardship and connection:
1️⃣ Faith & Dialogue — Ustaz Muhsein Hamzah reflected on Islam and sustainability, Bingyu Cai reminded us of the power of faith in driving positive change, and Faiz Bin Zohri guided Al-Mizan’s engagement with GUI, weaving together care and collaboration.
2️⃣ Greening & Composting — From weeding the garden and stream, preparing and sieving compost, to planting trees with enriched soil, participants worked side by side to nurture new life.
3️⃣ Food & Fellowship — Nor Lastrina Hamid and the kitchen team cooked up a storm with vegetarian mee goreng, nourishing both body and spirit.
This gathering reminded us of the joy of community across walks of life — united in stewardship, moderation, and gratitude ??.

? Eco-Friendly Living in Practice
Our next journey took us into homes that embody sustainability in design and daily practice:
1️⃣ Eco-Friendly Homes — Emylia and Minh shared how they built beautiful, sustainable spaces that balance design with care for the environment.
2️⃣ Zero-Waste Kitchens & Mindful Design — We explored practical ways to reduce waste and create homes that are both functional and planet-friendly.
3️⃣ Gardens at Home — Participants showcased their thriving home gardens, demonstrating how nature can flourish right where we live.
4️⃣ From Garden to Table — A highlight was tasting home-cooked Laksa made with fresh ingredients grown in their own gardens.
Faith was once again at the heart of our reflections, as Ustazah Nur Hidayah Azman shared meaningful insights on Islam x Sustainability, grounding our discussions in values and purpose. Guided by Faiz Bin Zohri, we engaged in rich dialogue on how each of us can make a difference in sustainable living.
? Building a Community of Care
Across these journeys, one theme shines through: sustainability is not just about practices, but about people. It is about faith that inspires action, communities that nurture one another, and creativity that brings new possibilities to life.
Together, we are building a community that celebrates sustainability, creativity, and care for our environment — one garden, one meal, one dialogue at a time.
